In many clinical professions, recent graduates participate in a nationally coordinated program of formal work-based training to prepare them for independent practice. In the healthcare management profession, these post-graduate administrative fellowships lacked any coordination or even uniform standards for what the programs should accomplish.To address these limitations, I helped bring
To address these limitations, I helped bring together three healthcare associations (NCHL, CAHME, and AUPHA) to launch a dues-supported organization to pursue a better approach.
The results:
- As of mid-2016, over 100 organizations nationally have joined NCAF and agreed to abide by its “Code of Good Practice”
- In collaboration with a third-party technology provider, NCAF has developed and implemented an online centralized application system for use in the 2016 application cycle
- Greater satisfaction and engagement of all stakeholders – students, graduate programs, and fellowship sites
